About Me

Music

wwu-2pigs-4073I’ve been playing guitar for… um, a while now. Since the age of 8 I think. My first guitar being my dads old acoustic which he found in the garage ! So we sprayed it black and stuck some glitter stars on it! Like ya do….

More recently I’ve been in and out of several bands in the Gloucester area, the biggest break came with the band ‘Serious’ when we won BBc Radio 1’s Friday Rock Show’s ‘Rock War’ which included recording a session for the BBC and lots of great publicity. However, in the middle of recession hit Britain of the 90’s big name artist were being dropped by their labels so we had no chance! and to be honest the music business hasn’t been the same since.

My most recent band, Which Way Up, was a great band for me where I really got to stretch my creative muscles, we wrote some catchy songs together and I had the pleasure of playing with a great singer and tight rhythm section and being a proper ‘band guitarist’ where the songs weren’t all about the guitars and solos but about the choruses and the melodies – just my cuppa tea! :D

I personally think that our biggest downfall is that we just weren’t young, pretty and cool enough to get any further than we did, but as a band we had a few great gigs, a brief run in with ‘record label interest’, but most importantly a bunch of fun and some good tunes to remember it all by!

Creating art has always been an interest of mine to such a degree that I spent my ‘employed’ years as a graphic designer working on several publications and designing advertising layouts and graphics for print campaigns. Although I lost interest of working in such a high pressure environment the love of the creativity of the job stayed with me  and my photography became a natural extension of that.

What else then? Well, when not doing either of the above, I’m a bit of a gamer nut! I can’t help it, I have been ever since I had a ZX81 when I was very young. The habit has stayed with me until present day with my Xbox 360 and my Wii being my escape from the world!
