Students work

gone-to-lunchPart of my favourite way to teach guitar is to get students to make their own tunes. This gives the student a ‘real deal’ approach to music theory and practice, meaning that whilst working on their tune we will inevitably encounter musical challenges that need to be overcome and therefore new musical methods and principles learnt.

Students do everything themselves from the choice of chords, notes, arrangements and play all instruments including bass guitar themselves. All mixing levels, sounds, effects and drum loops are also chosen by the student or as a joint effort together with me.

To aid student creativity the only time I get involved is when the student becomes stuck or in need of inspiration or ideas to help them continue… or if they ask for my opinion.
